Invisible braces work by exerting pressure on your teeth which causes your periodontal membrane to stretch and compress. When this membrane is stretched, your teeth become loose and cause new bone to form around the teeth to support its new alignment. Lingual braces move the teeth by pulling instead of the pushing motion of traditional braces. How should i take care of my invisible braces?

Like other orthodontic treatments, lingual braces need proper maintenance through oral care and hygiene to keep your treatments and teeth in great shape. Follow some of these tips:

  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean your teeth surface and the hidden part of your teeth where your braces are located.
  • Floss at least twice a day. Make sure that you thread the string beneath the main wire to avoid the floss getting stuck in your braces. There are dental floss made especially for patients with orthodontic treatments.
  • If you have the means, you can use a water flosser to get rid of any food stuck around your braces.
  • Have regular checkups with your orthodontist to check your progress and have your lingual braces adjusted periodically.
